About Coronavirus (COVID19)
The Coronaviruses [COV] are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from we know as the common cold to more far more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a new strain that was identified [ID] in the city of Wuhan in 2019 [19].
The spread of the virus around the world has resulted in it being categorised as a global pandemic (from Greek pan meaning all and and demos meaning people).
A pandemic is when a virus occurs simultaneously in multiples locations around the world.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) classified COVID-19 as a pandemic as it originated in China and spread to multiple continents around the world at roughly the same time.
As COVID-19 is a new disease which has not been previously identified in humans there are a lot of speculation circulating online and on social media regarding the origin and severity of the virus.
