A few basics to help new and existing Library users at Bradford College.

Where to start?

Starting at a new place of study can be overwhelming, but here are a few tips to get you started.

Step 1: Set up your IT Account

Set up your IT account as soon as you can.  You will need to use a computer within college to get started.

1. Press Ctrl-Alt and Delete to bring up the login fields.

2. Enter Your Username: this is the ID number on your college card.

3. Enter the following password: first initial of first name, DOB, first initial of surname e.g. for Joe Bloggs use, j060397b.

4. Change your password.: this must be 10 or more digits long and it must include numbers and letters.  Try and think of something secure - and something memorable!  This will then be your password for logging on to any college computer, using Moodle, and accessing your college email.

Your IT account gives you access to a Microsoft for Education account which includes your college email.  We will contact you on this email so it is important that you know how to access it and check it on a regular basis.

Once you have set up your new IT password, go to the Student Portal to set up your password.

Step 7: Log in to Moodle

Check you can log in to Moodle and then click on 'My Courses' to view all of the courses and modules you are studying this year.  If you think that some of your courses aren't listed, check with your tutor as soon as possible.

Step 8: Learn how to print, copy and scan

Multi-function printers are available throughout the college.  From these you can print, photocopy or scan materials which you can then email to your self or others. Once you have registered with IT and have your password, you should be able to use the printers by scanning your card.

Step 9: Learn how to avoid getting fines

Most loans will renew automatically up to 20 times, unless another library user has requested them.  However, if one of your items has been requested by another user, you will be able to keep it until the date that it is due, but your book will not renew beyond that date.  Avoid fines by checking your emails regularly and bringing your books back on time.

Step 10:
