Using the Library: Borrowing items

A few basics to help new and existing Library users at Bradford College.

Borrowing items

You can borrow most of the items in the library collection for two weeks.  Items in the Reading Collection or Teacher Training Collection are Term Loans.
  • You can borrow up to 15 items from our collection.  This can include textbooks, reading collection items, or DVDs.
  • If you want to borrow any items, you can do so by using one of our self-service kiosks.
  • After you have borrowed an item, if no one requests it, the item will automatically renew a week before the due date.  A Two-week Loan will renew for another two weeks (up to 25 times), and a Term Loan will renew to the end of the next term (up to 3 times).
Bringing books back
If someone requests an item you have borrowed, it will not renew and you will need to bring it back by the due date.
If you do not return the items by their due date you will be charged a fine for every day the item is late.
Remember to keep an eye on your library record so that you know if an item has been renewed or requested.
We also email your College email address with details of any items issued, returned or requested, so keep checking this.
If an item is marked Reference it can't be borrowed and must be used in the Library.
