City of Culture BD2025 Living Library event
We are pleased to announce our Living Library event to celebrate the City of Culture 2025.
The theme will be: "What libraries mean to me"
The Living Library is like a real library, but instead of borrowing books, you interact with a person. These “Living Books” share personal stories about their lives and experiences. As a "reader" you get to have and open, respectful conversations with them, asking questions about their stories, and learn from their point of view. It’s a chance to break down barriers, challenge assumptions, and understand others better. Whatever someone's history their story may help you to see the world differently. It’s all about listening, learning, and growing through real human connection.
Many of the city's libraries will be taking part, each hosting their own events during November 2025:
- Bradford College
- Tue 11 Nov - 12:00-13:00 & 13:00-14:00
- University of Bradford
- Wed 12 Nov - 12:00-13:00 & 13:00-14:00
- Commonweal Collection
- Thu 13 Nov - 13:00-14:00 & 14:00-15:00
- Bradford Public Library
- Fri 14 Nov - 14:00-15:00 & 15:00-16:00
Living Library books are people from our community in Bradford who will share a personal experience or perspective on what libraries mean to them. Borrow a living book in a safe space and take the opportunity to have a conversation and learn more about their experience.
