The end of the academic year is an important time for students to make time to read for enjoyment, as it helps with relaxation and personal satisfaction. This can then lead to better focus on revision and academic writing. This is why the College Library and Students' Union have teamed up to help promote the importants of recreational reading. We are offering students a complimentary copy of a Quick Read titles identified this year by the Reading Agency.
The books will be availbe from Monday 12th May. We will be giving them out around College and you will also be able to come along to a library counter at David Hockney, Trinity Green, or ATC to pick up your free copy. There are no stipulations or conditions for collecting a free book other than it is limited to one book per person.

If you do not know, Quick Reads are shorter versions of popular books by bestselling authors, written to be more accessible and easier to read. As the name suggests, they are designed to be read quickly while keeping all the enjoyment. The Reading Agency highlights that they "are a valuable tool for boosting reading skills, confidence and engagement in learning, and have led to thousands of adults reading, completing and enjoying a book for the first time".

According to research, those who read for just 30 minutes a week are :

π 18% more likely to have higher self-esteem
π 37% more likely to get greater pleasure out of their social life
π 52% more likely to feel socially included
The free books will start to be distributed around College from Monday 12th May.
The number of books we have available is limited so once they have gone, they're gone.
