A guide to using Your Library Account on the Library Catalogue

Your Account

You have a Library Account that you can access from any page in the the Library Catalogue.

This lets you see what items you have on loan and when they are due back and if they will be renewed.

You can also reserve items that are on loan, see what items you have borrowed in the past and if you owe any fines to the Library.

 

To access your account use the Log in to your account link at the top right of the page.

For instructions on Logging see the tabs to right.

     
 

When you have logged in the following will appear at the top of the screen.

Click on your name to access your account details from anywhere in the catalogue.

Search History will let you see what you have looked for whilst logged in.

Once you have logged in you  are taken to your Account Summary showing you the items you currently have on loan. There  are sections about your use of the Library. For a full list of what you can do and find out whilst logged in see the tabs below.

After logging into Your Account you will be shown the Issued Tab which is a summary of your Library account with all your current loans and the option to renew them.

There may also be tabs showing any overdue items you have,  the total fines you owe the library and any reservations you  have.

This will start off with a list of items you currently have out from the Library listed in the order they are due back. For each item you will be told.

Title: The title and writer of the item. (Click on this to see the items record in the catalogue.)
Due: This is when the item is due back at the library. (If the date is red the item will be overdue).
Class no:

This will tell you where you can find the copy on the shelf.

Renew:

This section will tell you the current renew status of your item.

If the item is due for auto renewal and how many renewals you have left.

If the item is not renewable you will be told as well as the reason why.

Fines If you currently owe fines to the Library on an item you will be told here. To see the details of fines choose the Your fines button on the side of the screen.

At the bottom of the screen is the Download as iCal.ics File option this will allow you to download your due dates to a calendar app.

 

The next tab in Your Summary is the Overdue tab

If you have any items overdue they will be listed in this tab, with the same options as above.

The next tab in Your Summary is the Fines tab

This tab will show you the total of the fines you currently owe the Library, for more details click on the Your Fines button on the side of the screen.

The next tab in Your Summary is the Reservations tab

This tab will show you the details of any reservations you have at the library, showing you.
Title: The title and author of any reserved items. (click on this to see its record in the catalogue.)
Placed on: This will show you when you reserved the item
Expires on:

This will show you the the date the reservation will be removed from the item, if it is empty the reservation will remain on the item permenantly.

Pick up location: This will show where you will be able to pick the item up when it available.
Status: This tell you whether the item is ready to be collected or it is still on loan.
Modify:

Click on    X Cancel    if you no longer want the reserved item. You can only do this if the reservation is still pending.

If you no longer want the item and its waiting to be collected, please contact the Library.

This tab will show you the details of any reservations you have at the library, showing you. For more detail on reservations see the Placing Reservations guide
If you click on Your Fines you will be shown the history of the fines you have been charged by the Library and what you have paid them.

You will be shown all the fines the library has charged you and the payments you have made giving you the following details:

Date:

This is either the date you were charged the fine or you made the payment.

Fines are charged on a daily basis, so if you have an item overdue this will be the current date.

Description:

This will tell you whether the line refers to a fine or a payment.

It will tell you the item for the fine or payment is for.

If it is a fine it will tell you the date the item was due back.

Fine amount:

This is amount of money you were either charged or payed.

Payments are listed as minus amounts (e.g. -1.50)

Amount outstanding:

This is the amount you have outstanding on a fine, if you have not paid the total amount that you owe.

At the bottom of the page will be the total of the amount that you owe.

You're Search History will show everything that you have searched for on the catalogue whilst logged in or in your current session

You will be shown all your searches, and when they were made and how many items the search returned.  There will be links so that you can see the results again.

You can use the arrows to sort your results.

You can select results and remove them from your search history using the tick boxes.

You're Borrowing History will show everything that you have borrowed from the library.

You will be shown all the items you have loaned from the library, giving you the following details:

Title:

The title of the item, click on this to see the items record in the catalogue.

Item Type:

This will tell you the type of item you borrowed.

Class no:

This is the number that will tell you where you can find the copy on the shelf.

Date:

This is the date you returned the item, if you still have the item on loan this will say Issued.

You can sort by the arrows at the top of each column or by the drop down menu.

You can use this section to make suggestions for items that you think the library should buy

To make a suggestion click on . This will open the form below which you need to fill in.
If you have made a suggestion there will be the following list

This will tell you the items you suggested, and when you suggested them.  You can also delete the item from the list.

Once you have made a suggestion a member of Library Staff will look at it and decide whether the  Library will be buying the item or not. Once this decision has been made you will receive an email to your College email account letting you know the outcome.

Also the list will change to reflect the outcome and let you know which member of library staff made the decision.

 

If you are logged in you can make a list of items in the catalogue that your are interested in so you can find them again later.

In this section you can access them edit them, share them other people or delete.

You will start with a being told the following about your lists:

List Name:

This is the name you have given the list. This is a link to see the items in the list.

Contents:

This is how many items are in the list.

Type:

This is whether the list is private or public.

A private list is only visable to you and any one you invite to see it.

A public list is visable to everyone.

Clicking Edit will open the following box

Clicking delete will let you remove a list from the catalogue
 

Inter-library Loans are requests put into other Libraries for items that Bradford College Library doesn't have. Here you can find a record of your requests and current status.

To place and Inter-Library Loan request you will need to log on to Moodle where you will fill in a form .

Once this request form is processed by the Library and your request the details of your request will be listed on this page.

Once an Inter-library Loan the details of your request will appear on this page.

 

How to...

Once you have clicked on Log in to your Account a login box will appear.

Enter your College Number as it appears on your College Card .

Your PIN is your year of birth.

If this doesn't work please contact the Library during staffed hours.

 

 

Once you have logged in the following will appear at the top of the screen allowing you to log out.

Always remember to log out on, especially on a public machine.
