Borrowing a Laptop
To borrow a laptop from the lapsafe you:
- Must be a current student of Bradford College
- Must have your most recently issued College card with you. (This is the card whose details are recorded on the the College's registry system.)
- Must have no outstanding Library fines, overdue items or other conditions that might stop you borrowing from the Library.
When borrowing a laptop please note:
- You may only borrow one laptop at a time.
- Laptops are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved
- Laptops are lent for for up to 3 hours, or until the Library closing time whichever is soonest. They must be returned on the day they are borrowed.
- You cannot renew a laptop loan.
- The Library reserves the right to prohibit borrowing.
- If you return a laptop late you may be banned from borrowing.
- You must not leave anything in the locker, whilst you are borrowing a laptop. (The Library is not responsible for any personal property left in a locker)
Loss or damage:
- You are responsible for the laptop and any use made thereof whilst it is in on loan to you. Adequate and appropriate measures must be taken to protect it from theft, damage and/or other risks. You must ensure that it is not left unattended and/or unsecured at any time.
- If a laptop is found to be damaged or if parts/accessories are missing, you may be charged for the replacement cost.
Usage:
When using one of these laptops:
- Please report any problems with the Laptop to the Library as soon as possible, either by emailing askalibrarian@bradfordcollege.ac.uk or one of the desks in the Hockney Library .
- Laptops can only be used in College and are not to be taken home.
- You should save your work to your own external device (e.g. memory stick) or cloud-based storage.
- You should not save passwords or account information on the laptops, for example in web browsers.
- Ensure that you sign out of any accounts in applications and web browsers before returning the laptop. .
- If you find viruses or illegal, inappropriate or offensive material on a laptop please get in touch with the Library as soon as possible.
Licencing and software: :
When using one of these laptops:
- • You are responsible for making sure that copyright laws, health and safety, college regulations and procedures are followed. The Library will not be held responsible for copyright infringements.
- • All loan equipment is the property of Bradford College. Any existing software installed on the equipment is only licensed for college use. This software must not be removed or copied from any college equipment. Doing so could lead to disciplinary action.
- • Additional software may not be loaded onto the laptop, and you must use the laptop in accordance with the College’s IT Regulations.
Returning a laptop:
- You must return laptops to the laptop cabinet and follow the instructions, including plugging the laptop in to charge and checking that the locker has closed properly. This will make sure the laptop loan is cleared from your account
- If the laptop cabinet is not working, you may return laptops any of the staffed desk in the Hockney Library. If the Library is unstaffed, you must return the laptop to the Reception Desk in the David Hockney Building.
- If you believe you have returned a laptop that remains on your account, you must inform the Library as soon as possible and provide as much evidence as you can for us to investigate. If we cannot locate the laptop, we will ask you to pay a replacement charge. You will not be allowed further loans until all late items are returned and/or any costs are paid.
