Your teachers will tell you that the more you read, the better your English language becomes. Reading in English improves your listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, fluency and confidence. ESOL Graded Readers are specially adapted stories and non-fiction books graded at levels of difficulty from Starter to Advanced. The ESOL readers in Bradford College are shelved by the ESOL Skills for Life levels and the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for languages)
A1= Entry level 1 (Beginner) - colour coded Pink
A2= Entry level 2 (Elementary) - colour coded Orange
B1=Entry level 3 (Pre-intermediate /Intermediate) - colour coded Green
B2= Level 1 (Intermediate / Upper intermediate) - colour coded Blue
C1= Level 2 (Advanced) - colour coded Red
We also have a Pre-Entry (Starter) set of books, colour coded purple.
1. Go to https://moodle.bradfordcollege.ac.uk
2. Log in using your college username (student ID number) and password
3. Click on the search button and type in ESOL Readers
4. Click on the link
5. Click on the level you want to read
6. Find a title and click on it to read the book
You can change the size of text, play audio, go forward and back, search words and use the dictionary.
Read Oxford Graded Readers online! Go to our Moodle page for ESOL Online Readers here, and click on the level that you would like to read. You'll see a selection of books - click on the title of one and you can read online, flick through the pages, have a go at the quizzes, and you can also listen aloud to the story being read. You can even make the reading voice slower or faster depending on your listening skills.
