ESOL: Autumn Term 2020

English as a second language

Welcome back to college!  You will be pleased to know that the Library is open for you to borrow books and ask for help. However, due to Covid-19, there are some new rules that we have to keep you safe. Please get in touch if you have any questions about these.

Finding Books

You can come to the library and borrow books at any time but please come to the counter rather than go to the shelves yourself. This is to reduce transmission of the virus.

  • If you know which book you would like, please ask at the Library Information Desk.  We will collect them from the shelves for you.
  • If you would like to look at a selection of books, eg Grammar, please ask at the Library Information Desk. If possible, tell us your level or the class that you are in. We will then collect a set of books for you to look at.

You can also check our online library catalogue. Enter your keywords in the search box and write down the numbers.  We will then collect the books for you.

Contact us

You can contact us in the following ways:

Borrowing Books

You can borrow books in the usual way.

  • Once you have chosen the books you would like to borrow, you can use the library self-issue machines.
  • You will need your ID card and your PIN which is the year you were born.
  • You will automatically get a receipt which will tell you which books you have taken out.
  • Books can be borrowed for 2 weeks, and then will auto-renew unless someone else requests the book.

Returning Books

Please return your books in the book boxes in the library or reception.

Books will be removed from your library account and you will receive an email confirmation the following day.

Please check this is correct, and come to the Library Information Desk as soon as possible if there are any problems.

We will keep books back for 3 days before putting them back on the shelf to make sure that they will not spread the virus.
