History (FE): Requesting Books

Now that College has reopened after the easing of the National Lockdown we are returning to the Request and Collect service.
If you have requested a book, we will expect you to come into the Library to collect the item once you receive an email telling you it is ready for you.
If you are not coming onto campus to study or if you are shielding you can continue with postal loans. If you want to still receive items through the post or have any other questions please email
Requesting books from the library takes just a few clicks.
Once you have searched using the Library Catalogue you will get a list of results.
At the bottom of each record entry will be the option to Request Items.
If you open up the item record you will see the option to Request Items.
This may be on the left side of the screen if you are using a PC or tablet, or at the bottom if you are using a mobile device.
Once you have pressed Request Items you will be asked to log in to your Library account.
The Login is your College number and the PIN is your year of birth.
Details of the requested item will then be displayed on the screen.
You can opt to collect the item at either Hockney Library or Trinity Green Library.
Under Show more options you can give a Request not needed after date.
This can be useful if an item is on loan and already has a number of reservations already placed on it.
When you are happy you can Confirm request and you will now be taken to the Reservations; tab of your Library account.
If the Status of the item is shown as Pending it means that you have made a request for the item but it is not ready for you to collect.
When the Status shows as Item waiting you will be given a location and a period in which you need to collect your item.
If an item is not Collected in the given period the request will be cancelled and the book will be made available on the shelves, or for the next person who has requested it.
Once you have requested items we recommend you check your Library Account to see whether the item is available for collection.
A notification email is sent to your College email address when the book is available for you to collect from the Library.
Requested items can be collected Monday to Thursday from the Library Information Desk on the 2nd floor of the David Hockney Building.
A valid College card will be required to collect any reservations.
More information about requesting items can be found here.
